“We are incredibly proud to launch the Money Smarts board game to empower Indigenous youth across Canada. Financial literacy is a crucial tool for building personal and community prosperity.”

— Michelle Okere, Executive Director, Indigenous Prosperity Foundation

A first-of-its-kind new learning tool will equip Indigenous youth with essential skills in financial literacy through a board game rooted in community values and cultural identity. Created by the Indigenous Prosperity Foundation (IPF) and the National Aboriginal Capital Corporations Association (NACCA), Money Smarts: My Financial Journey, supports young people to gain knowledge and skills to contribute to community prosperity and meaningful livelihoods.

Developed with support from the Mastercard Foundation EleV Program, Money Smarts is part of a broader partnership between IPF, NACCA, and the Mastercard Foundation, which aims to empower young Indigenous entrepreneurs through skills training, micro-grants, and mentorship opportunities.

Overview

  • Practical Financial Literacy: The game helps youth build confidence in managing personal and community finances.

  • Cultural Relevance: Featuring Indigenous artwork and values, the game cultivates a sense of identity and belonging.
