“Independence allows us to implement our own governance structure and expand access to the kinds of capital, knowledge, and networks that entrepreneurs need not just to start businesses, but to sustain them for the long term.”
— Xina Cowan, CEO & Co-Founder, EntrepreNorth
Across Canada’s North, Indigenous entrepreneurs are building businesses that reflect their communities, cultures, and connection to the land.
EleV partner EntrepreNorth supports Northern Indigenous entrepreneurs as they grow these ventures, providing access to business training, mentorship, and networks tailored to the realities of the North. Since 2018, the organization has worked alongside more than 400 founders, helping strengthen local economies and support long-term, community-driven success.
EntrepreNorth has now officially transitioned into an independent charitable entity, marking a major milestone in its journey. This shift enables the organization to establish its own governance structure and expand access to the capital, knowledge, and relationships entrepreneurs need to grow sustainable businesses. It also reflects a broader movement toward Indigenous-led economic systems that prioritize self-determination and community-defined success.
With this transition, EntrepreNorth continues to build a model of entrepreneurship that goes beyond business creation. Through initiatives like the Sinew Impact Fund and its ongoing programming, the organization is strengthening pathways for Northern Indigenous entrepreneurs to create ventures that support cultural continuity, local economies, and future generations.
Why It Matters:
Indigenous entrepreneurs are creating businesses that strengthen their communities and local economies
Independence allows EntrepreNorth to provide capital, training, and mentorship designed for Northern realities
Supporting Indigenous-led entrepreneurship builds pathways to self-determination and economic resilience
